100% Zinfandel from a single vineyards in California, USA.

"Kirschenmann was planted in sandy granitic loam in 1915, primarily to Zinfandel, with
Carignane, Cinsault and Mondeuse Noir spread throughout, all own-rooted and
dry-farmed. Fermented 100% whole cluster with native yeast, basket pressed, and aged
in one 360 gallon foudre and 1 neutral barrel for 9 months. Harvest date: 8/31

The historic Kirschenmann Vineyard was planted in 1915 on its own roots, and is
primarily Zinfandel, with a little Carignane, Cinsault and Mondeuse Noir spread
throughout the block. The vineyard is located on an oxbow of the Mokelumne
River east of Lodi, where loads of fine, sandy, granitic loam have been deposited
from erosion of the Sierra Nevada mountains to the East. The old, twisted,
dry-farmed vines are thriving under the watchful eye of our friend Tegan
Passalacqua who is one of the foremost experts on old vines in California. We
ferment this beautiful fruit without destemming, and aging takes place in a large
format 360 gallon Foudre to preserve freshness in the wine. The 2023 is loaded
with briary red fruits and notes of black pepper and violets."
