100% Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) from Rheinhessen, Germany. Organic & Vegan.
Weissburgunder is the German name for Pinot Blanc from Germany’s largest wine region, the Rheinhessen. Pinot Blanc is a genetic mutation of Pinot Noir. Pinot Noir is genetically unstable and will occasionally experience a point mutation in which the vine bears all black fruit except for one cane which produces white fruit!
The wine is made by young revolutionary winemaker Florian Fauth, whose brother- in-law is Klaus Peter Keller, one of the most respected winemakers in Germany. This wine has a lot going on- bright and vibrant acidity, a slightly creamy lushness, with flavors and aromatics of pear, peach, pepper, and lemon.
My favorite descriptor for this wine is- "like biting into a pineapple after dipping it in the ocean at sunrise." What’s not to like!!
