A red blend of Dolcetto, Barbera, & Nebbiolo from Piedmont, Italy.
The Oddero family were among the first families to commercialize wine from the Piedmont region. They have been instrumental in the active Barolo wine trade since the early 1800’s. Convento was originally a “convent” in the town of La Morro & the name & location stuck. Figli Luigi Oddero’s vineyards in the Langhe hills are dedicated to Dolcetto, Barbera, & the noble Nebbiolo grape.
Their Rosso is a light & approachable blend of their 3 grapes -- primarily Dolcetto with small amounts of Barbera & Nebbiolo. The emphasis here is on the purity of the fruit over structure & producing a wine that can be both ethereal & savory. The wine goes through a natural fermentation in stainless steel & matured in cement tanks. Vinified & aged like a baby Barolo!
The wine is brimming with a bouquet & palate of red cherries, blackberries, plums, & rose petals. Licorice notes, hints of forest floor, spices, & even a slight tobacco aromatic subtlety seeps through this superb blend from a master producer!
