Chardonnay & a bit of Pecorino from Italy.
Stefano Ceroni & wife Eloisa de Fermo met in law school in Bologna and they both enjoyed successful law practice in Bologna. Over the years they both became increasingly interested in Eloisa’s family farm of over 250 years. Church documents revealed that wine making was made on the farm’s site beginning in the 9th century. The couple decided to shelf their law career & their first vintage was in 2010.
The vineyard is located in the Loreto Aprutino (the LA reference on the label) in the province of Pescara & possesses some of the finest plots in Abruzzo. The majority of De Fermo’s Bianco blend comes from 30 year old Pecorino & 90 year old Chardonnay vines. The fruit is harvested early for freshness & fermented in concrete. Apple, almonds, notes of citrus with hints of fennel & a bit of salty twist burst on the palate. The wine is savory with good texture, grip & a lengthy fresh finish!
