La Bacca is their pet project from Sicily where their wines are both rustic, refined, & also defined by Mount Etna’s volcanic minerality. Nerello Mascalese is one of Sicily’s popular red varietals that takes its name from the Mascali Plain which lies between the coast & Mount Etna.

DNA testing indicate that the grape is the genetic child of Sangiovese & a white grape, Mantonico Bianco, which explains it’s seemless assimilation as a chillable red. Some of the vines go as far back as 1880 so there’s big concentration here to complement the soft & juicy palate of plums, cherries, earthiness, & mineral notes!
