100% Chardonnay from Chablis in Burgundy, France.
We travel from the southernmost strip of Burgundy in neighboring Beaujolais, up to its northernmost region, Chablis, recognized globally for its Chardonnay. The monks of Citeaux back in the 12th century created a monastic viticulture that is still the benchmark for producing this world class Chardonnay along the hilly banks of the Serein River.
Chablisienne began as a cooperative of winegrowers who joined forces to better withstand economic difficulties in 1923. Until 1953 members of the cooperative delivered their finished production to Chablisienne who created the blends and sold them. La Chablisienne has evolved to create a style of their own by deciding to buy the unfermented juice and taking total control over the winemaking process and collaborating with the growers.
The wines are minerality personified! The exceptional Kimmeridgian soil and southwestern exposure is found in few places throughout the world creating wines of incomparable finesse and character.
The wine is rich and juicy with vanilla, lemon, peach, green apple, lime peel, and floral notes. Chalky and flinty notes course through the wine from start to wonderfully long and lingering finish!
