Sal (or Turi - short for Salvatore) and his wife Stefania started their own little polyculltural farm of vineyards, fruit trees, grains, and other crops near Contrada Buonwini in the town of Pachino in southeast Sicily. Sal bounced from one large wine company to another and decided to make wine that clearly was nothing like the industrialized wine he had been making.

Turi’s Bianco is 100% Catarratto macerated with indigenous yeasts for 5 days on the skins. Despite the fact that it was exposed to only a very short time of skin contact, this wine drinks like a full on orange wine.

Light, tart, and refreshing, the tannins give the wine a nice crunch with a mix of lemon peel, apricot, peach, mango, and aromas of ginseng, lychee, and more peach. There’s a riot going on here - I think this wine is a perfect intro for those who want to dip their toes into the orange pool!
