100% Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley, France.
Located in the Les Espailles in the commune of Crezancy-en-Sancerre, 3rd generation winemaker Pierre Durand works a single parcel of Sauvignon Blanc in the Touraine to create a wine of high quality with respect to the appellation.
Sancerre is considered by many to be the spiritual homeland of Sauvignon Blanc, and although this wine is technically not in the geographic parameters to be called a Sancerre it has all of the “je-ne-sais-quoi” - mineral notes, balance, and finesse of this region’s iconic wine.
Durand’s vineyards are rich in calcareous sediment and shells and little oyster fragments which give Sauvignon Blanc its true identity. The wine is vibrant with subtle aromas of citrus and white flowers. The palate is fruit forward and full bodied. Durand Famille Sauvignon Blanc can more than hold its own against cult Sancerre – at a much more affordable price!
