65% Mourvèdre, 30% Cinsault, & 5% Syrah from Languedoc-Roussillon, France.
Saint-Chinian is a commune in the Occitania region in southern France in the Languedoc-Roussillon where Benedictine monks planted vines around 750 AD. At Mas Champart, the grapes are picked early to capture the aromas of red berries, peaches, & citrus. The rosé is allowed to complete a naturally occurring malolactic fermentation, a traditional but increasingly rare practice that gives the wine more weight & depth and highlights Mourvèdre’s spicy character.
In addition to the 65% Mourvèdre, there’s 30% Cinsault, & 5% Syrah harvested from vineyards with rocky limestone soil which provides natural water retention & contributes a mineral freshness and garrigue aromatics to the wine.
The wine shows brilliant clarity & fleshy texture with a slightly effervescent mouthfeel. The bright acidity is an underpinning for all of the stone fruit, Mediterranean herbs, & red berry flavors!
