A blend of Nielluciu, Sciacarellu, & Grenache from Corsica, France.
Corsica has a long and illustrious history in the vineyards but it’s really been in the last half century that the country has refocused to explore its potential. The Barcelo family established vineyards in 1966 dedicated to revitalizing indigenous grapes-Niellucciu and Sciaccarellu- along with Grenache. Niellucciu is widely believed to be a clone of one of Italy’s marquee varietals, Sangiovese.
Despite this unique blend Domaine de Vetriccie could easily be confused for a Provençal wine given its pronounced strawberry flavors, distinctive herbaceous aromatics, and clean mineral finish.
