50% Hondarribi Beltza and 50% Hondarribi Zuri from Getaria - Basque Country, Spain
When most local wineries in the province of Getaria in Basque Country gave up on some of their indigenous varietals, the Ameztoi family retained their old vines of Hondarabbi Zuri and Hondarabbi Beltza to produce Rubentis, the region’s first pink wine. Ignacio Ameztol is the 5th generation of his family to carry on the tradition of making Txakolina.
The wine is 50% Hondarabbi Zuri and 50% Hondarabbi Beltza that’s been co-fermented for 3 weeks in closed stainless steel tanks to retain it’s natural carbonation. The wine is fizzy, refreshing, and fun with lively red fruit flavors interspersed with citrus and an ever-so-slightly menthol aromatic!
