Paul Direder is the current owner & winemaker of the Direder Farm which goes back to 1849. At the age of 16, Paul leased the farm from his grandparents converting all 75 acres into vineyards. The farm is located in the Wagram (meaning “seashore”) region consisting of ancient marine & gravel sediments from the Danube River. The vineyards now have 25-30 year old vines & a typical harvest is well into October.
Paul’s Riesling is made in a delightfully lighter & super refreshing style which broadens the demographic appeal to those wine drinkers who are a bit reticent about this enigmatic grape.
On the nose there are fruity aromas of apricot, peach, & yellow currants. Stone fruit flavors course through the wine with a perfectly balanced acidity!
