100% Chardonnnay from Piedmont, Italy.

The DeForville family emigrated to Piedmont from Belgium in 1848 and established themselves in the village of Barbaresco in 1860. The family immediately became engaged with the potential of the Nebbiolo grape and sold their wine in bulk to restaurants and retailers until 1940 when the estate bottled its first wine.

From the Ca del Buc vineyard site in Castagnole Lanza, their Chardonnay vines are 45 years old, having been planted in place of Grignolino in the early 1980’s. Vinified and aged exclusively in stainless steel, this cooler climate Piedmonte Chardonnay is brisk and clean but full bodied as well, with notes of apple, pear, apricot, and peach. There’s even a leesy creaminess and a hint of butter and vanilla here despite seeing no oak!
