Clare JC is a Nebbiolo made according to a 1605 note of appreciation by Gian Batista Croce, the family jeweler of the House of Savoia. Thomas Jefferson also wrote a note of praise in 1787 about this fresher, crisper, and smoother approach to the grape. This wine is a true time capsule for Nebbiolo before the rise in popularity of the full-bodied and brooding style of Barolo.

The grapes are harvested from younger vines and macerated partially in whole clusters. This light carbonic maceration adds lift, freshness, and energy. The wine has a ripe, fruity structure and slight spritz with a bouquet of strawberries, cherries, and red currants. The palate is earthy and spicy with subtle wood and flinty notes. A hint of almond rounds out the finish! Baby Barolo reimagined!
