Did you know that – after Italy – Australia has the most plantings of Italian grapes of any other country in the world!? That’s right, it’s super common throughout Australia to see a variety of different Italian grapes – they work well in many of the dry, Mediterranean-style climates of Australia. And this is largely thanks to the Chalmers family, who have brought in many of these grape varieties through their nursery in northern Victoria. The Montevecchio Rosso is a tribute to this work, a co-fermented blend of many of the Italian red grapes that they import, including piedirosso, pavana, lagrein, sagrantino.
