Another Star In The Wine World Is Headed Our Way!
Join on Monday, July 31 at 5:30pm for a wine tasting event with winemaker Michele D’Aprix. Michele is the only American woman making her own wine in France’s Bordeaux region, and we’re so excited that she’ll be sharing her five wines with all of us.
Throughout the evening, Michele will guide us through five of her wines – from white to rosé to red – and give us the inside scoop about her winemaking methodologies. And as guests enjoy some light refreshments, Michele will also talk about other foods that make for perfect pairings with each wine.
Originally from upstate New York, Michele D’Aprix worked as a bartender in Boston while studying Organic Chemistry at UMass. Those years in service landed Michele her first winery job at Dry Creek Vineyard in California as an assistant to the enologist. Loving the job, she decided to enroll in UC Davis’s Fermentation Science program and five years later she earned her second degree in Viticulture & Enology. In search of more experience, Michele found work at wineries in the Rhône Valley and South Africa, finally arriving in Bordeaux, where she trained with the accomplished and highly-regarded vigneron Stéphane Derenocourt. She studied his methodology in both the vineyard and cellar, combining the fine art of organic farming and minimal intervention winemaking. Ready to add her own touch after few years, Michele became the winemaker at a small property in the Montagne-St Emilion A.O.C. where she developed a solo project, calling it "Pentimento.” She now splits her winemaking efforts between Bordeaux, Costières de Nîmes (France), and Montsant (Spain), where she has multiple projects.
This will be an unforgettable evening with an incredible winemaker. You won’t want to miss it!
