100% Manzoni Bianco from Colli Trevigiani (Veneto), Italy. Organic.
The iconic Gregoletto family have been making wine around Conegliano in the Veneto region since the 1600’s! This is the heart of Prosecco country & their focus is on sparkling wine production. However, the Gregoletto family has a soft spot for some of the rare indigenous grapes of the region -- particularly Manzoni Bianco!
Manzoni Bianco is a genetic cross between Pinot Blanc & Riesling created in the 1930’s by enology professor Luigi Manzoni. He crossed two cool climate grapes that were well suited to the terrain of the Veneto.
Today there are only a few small & scattered parcels spread around the Veneto but the Gregolettos have preserved the grape & their labor if love is a full bodied, fresh and spicy wine with all the attributes of Riesling with it’s vibrant minerality & acidity, and Pinot Gris with it’s honeyed orchard fruit & touch of lime zest!
