100% Gewurztraminer from a Grand Cru plot in the Alsace, France. Biodynamically farmed.
From the distributor:
This Alsatian Gewürztraminer was grown on twenty-five-year-old vines from a thirteen hectares vineyard planted in clay, limestone and granite soils. The grapes were farmed biodynamically and harvested by hand before undergoing a month of skin maceration and spontaneous fermentation in neutral oak with indigenous yeasts. Afterwords, the wine was aged for twelve months in neutral oak. No filtration, no fining.
Domaine Geschickt is an exciting producer from Ammerschwihr in Alsace just north of Colmar who have been farming biodynamically since 1998. The small village of Ammerschwihr lies in a beautiful valley and the town is surrounded by grape vines. They produce some classic wines including some incredible Grand Cru wines (from Kaefferkopf and Wineck-Schlossberg) as well as more modern styles of wine including a mind-blowing pet nat and some skin contact wines.
A note from winemakers Frédéric and Arnaud Geschickt: "We are a multi-generational wine family located in the heart of Alsace. Since 1998, we’ve converted our production to biodynamic wine making in response to the realization that our land and our vineyard’s longevity depend on their sustainability. We have worked hard to become both Demeter and EcoCert certified and are committed to offering the best of Alsatian terroir, rich in both history and savoir-faire."
