Marquette Rosé left on Whole Clustered Frontenac Gris & Blanc.
Kalche wines burst onto the Vermont wine map in 2021 with a mission of ditching the status quo and exploring “Next World Wine” by creatively working with hybrid grapes and local fruits using various fermentation methods while maximizing resourcefulness, limiting environmental impact and minimizing waste. The company also believes in amplifying and advocating for abused and marginalized voices in the current wine industry.
Kalche (Greek for purple fish -- metaphorically meaning to seek something unique and highly prized) has chosen many soapboxes to stand on, and to their credit , have made wines that reflect their ideals.
Kalche’s Ghoseh is a Marquette rose that has been left on the lees with whole clustered Frontenac Gris and Blanc. All three of these grapes are sourced from Huntington River Winery in Vermont. The wine is a crisp and refreshing quaffer with bright fruit leather flavors and a saline finish. Vermont in recent years has been on the forefront of the new wine movement and Kalche wines certainly reflect the innovation, potential, and diversity of these cool climate varietals.
