100% Garnacha Blanca (Grenache Blanc) from Navarra, Spain. Organic.
At our tastings we feature a lot of indigenous grapes that conscientious winemakers and growers have rescued and this wine is made from yet another one -100% Garnacha Blanca, which is a white mutation of Grenache Noir. The grape is long ripening and has great potential to retain its sugars.
The winery is located in the heart of Navarra’s Ribera Baja region in the ancient village of Corella. The grapes are grown in the hills above Ebro Valley and harvested during the coolest evening hours, stripped from the stems, and cold macerated after a few hours of skin contact.
This vintage had a challenging season - a heat wave with lots of rain around harvest time but the winemakers are happy with this new interpretation of Garnacha Blanca and it’s spike of acidity and clean citrus and stone fruit flavors. The wine has great minerality and freshness, a trace of dill and cumin, and long persistent finish!
