A sparkling white blend of Chardonnay w/ a little Pinot Gris from New Mexico, USA.
There’s been a lot of buzz these days about the amazing progress that wineries are making at high elevation in New Mexico.
Gruet, one of the state’s iconic wineries, is spearheading the charge with sparkling wines that have old world generational expertise and new world innovation. The Gruet family, who had wine properties in Champagne, settled in New Mexico in 1984 with a vision to duplicate their wine making success in the Southwest. Over the years their sparkling wines are synonymous with quality and value. Their new entry is Saint Vincent Sparkling, a blend primarily of Chardonnay with a touch of Pinot Gris.
The wine is made in the Methode Champenoise style where the second fermentation happens in the bottle. The wine has lemony with citrus tones and an overlay of green apple and touch of yeasty bread dough. The dollop of Pinot Gris gives the bubbly a crisp acidity and lingering finish.
