100% Viognier from the Côtes du Rhône, France.
The Quiot family has owned this property since 2006 and, unlike other producers in the area who have primarily blended their white grape bottlings with Marsanne, Roussane, and Viognier, they celebrate the unique qualities of these grapes by doing 100% of each varietal.
Viognier’s history has had many twists and turns since this grape has almost disappeared and Chateau du Trignon’s interpretation is one of the reasons for its renewed popularity.
Their wine is enchanting - super fragrant revealing aromas of mango, pear, peach, quince, apricot, musk, and spices but there’s also an undercurrent of almonds and hazelnuts! On the palate the wine is rich and textured with the acidity balancing all of that fruit and lingering citrus zest finish.
Today’s Viognier defies description- is it any wonder that there’s an International Viognier Day on April 29th!!!!
