100% Pinot Noir from New Zealand.
Momo means “offspring’ in Māori, the indigenous language of the people in the Wairau Valley.
Pinot Noir from New Zealand has lived in the shadows of Sauvignon Blanc for years but lately we’re discovering New Zealand’s “other wine” and they are delicious. Pinot Noir from Central Otago, the mountainous region on the south end of Marlborough is getting much deserved attention. Momo Pinot Noir surprisingly is located on the north end of the island and surrounded by Sauvignon Blanc!
Despite the location, the wine is spot on to its varietal characteristic. The nose demonstrates an earthiness with herbal and dark fruit aromatics. The wine is medium bodied with loads of juicy strawberries and cranberries and layered with fine tannins and crisp acidity.
The Momo team selects organically grown grapes from a small group of their grower friends who also grow, yup, Sauvignon Blanc!
