A blend of 50% Grenache, 35% Cinsault, & 15% Syrah from Provence, France. Organic.
La Commanderie de Peyrassol has lived through an extraordinary history that few estates can match. Archeological findings show that human occupation existed in the estate going back to 1000 BC. The Gallo-Roman period has left remains of an architectural complex with agricultural settlements & partitioned walls.
Today the 850 hectare property is surrounded by typical Mediterranean vegetation, but it’s also nestled in the foothills of the Massif Des Maire which protects the grapes from the harmful maritime humidity.
Their rose is a blend of 50% Grenache, 35% Cinsault, & 15% Syrah. After hand harvesting the clusters in the early morning to preserve a purity of expression, the grapes are placed in a pneumatic press for 2-4 hours. The juice is then kept in dedicated vats from the same plots until the time comes to blend.
The palate is clean & fresh with slightly spicy notes & hints of juniper. There’s a nice touch of salinity to go along with aromas of stone & citrus fruit and lemon blossoms.
Provençal rose at its finest!
