Blend of Pinot Noir & Gamay from Cheverny (Loire Valley), France.
Thierry & Emmanuel have taken advantage of this viticultural jewel that’s often overlooked by it’s marque appellations & continue to create interesting concoctions from the other varietals that thrive here.
Their Cheverny Rouge is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir, 43% Gamay, & 2% Côt (Malbec). Pinot Noir blended with Gamay is one of my favorite red blends (with a splash of Côt for added body!) & becoming very popular in many wine regions throughout the world.
There’s big cherry flavors here with cloves & deeper notes of coffee, toast, & a touch of tobacco! Fresh & lively on the palate, the wine has beautifully integrated tannins & spot on acidity!
