100% Chenin Blanc from Western Cape, South Africa. Vegan.

“The hands that work the soil feed the soul.” The motto of the Fairvalley Association sums up their mission -- to provide for the workers of the association & address their needs for sustainable housing & steady work & channel all profits toward individual’s initiatives through the Fairtrade program.

Fair Valley created their first Chenin Blanc (once referred to as Steen which means “stone” in Afrikaans, alluding to the minerality of the grape) in 1998. Today, winemaker Avie Adolf presides over the winery using fruit sourced from the Paarl Mountain region on the Western Cape, a province of South Africa on the southwest coast.

The grapes are harvested by hand early in the morning & the juice settles for 2 days in stainless steel & racked off the lees. It then goes through a 3 week fermentation. This wine is brimming with pear & red apple & even a hint of honey to balance out all that crispness!
