Brea Wines is a collaboration between Chris Brockway, winemaker & owner of Broc Cellars, and Tim Elenteny, founder of Elenteny Imports. Their intention is to create a California Cabernet Sauvignon with a lesser oak influence & tempered ABV than what is typical in California from a cooler climate and late ripening site.

The wine is made up of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon & 5% Petite Verdot from the Margarita Vineyard in Paso Robles. Sitting at 1000 feet in elevation, some growers have felt that this site may be too cool to fully ripen Cabernet Sauvignon, but the Pacific maritime climate affords a longer growing season to get the desired ripeness.

The wine delivers with rich notes of chocolate, currants & ripe plums. There’s a distinctive mineral core here and despite 14 months of aging in neutral French Oak, the wine has mild tannins and a beautifully balanced finish.
