100% Aligote from Burgundy, France.

Domaine Georges Lignier is led by Benoit Stehly, nephew of Georges Lignier who worked alongside his uncle for a decade before assuming control of the vineyard and cellar.

Aligote is the “other” white grape planted in Burgundy. A cross between Pinot Noir and Gouais Blanc, Aligote was once inter-planted with Chardonnay and field blended together to kick up the acidity levels. This practice apparently doesn’t happen in Burgundy anymore since winemakers have seen the great potential of this high acidity grape.

The grapes are sourced from vines in the legendary Morey-Saint-Denis and 70% are from 60 year old vines. The old vine grapes add a plumpness and texture to ride over the wine’s clean bright acidity and floral elements. Green apple and citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit weaves with bracing minerality showcasing an outlier varietal finally coming into its own!
