100% Chardonnay from Beaujolais, France.
Domaine Dupeuble has been making wine in the tiny hamlet of Le Breuil in southern Beaujolais since 1512. The name of the domaine has changed just three times in its history. Now Domaine de La Prebende, the estate produces deeply mineral Gamay and Chardonnay from clay and limestone soil, rare in this predominantly granite dominated region.
“Une Prebende” essentially means “a tax” and the domaine sits on the location where monks used to collect taxes from villagers. As Ghislaine Dupeuble, proprietor of the estate says, “Monks didn’t like to own low end vineyards!”
The wine is 100% Chardonnay from 30 year old vines, gently pressed and cold soaked with a regular stirring on the lees during fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks. The wine has a crisp mineral driven profile with green apple, citrus, & floral notes!
