This Glou Glou is a nod to a classic old school Italian style with a distinctive California twist! The wine is a blend of the iconic varietals Barbera (40%), Dolcetto (40%), Montepulciano (14%), and Sangiovese (6%).
Winemaker and owner Chris Brockway established his winery in Berkeley in 2002 and bought grapes until 2021 when he purchased the highly regarded Fox Hill Vineyards in Mendocino. The 60 acre plot grows 25 Italian varieties and several Spanish varieties as well. The grapes are fermented separately and aged for 10 months before they’re blended and bottled.
The wine pops with cherry, raspberries, and tea flavors. Bright and fresh with tame tannins, this chillable red is a perfect choice with anything coming off the grill!
