Rhys Vineyards prides itself in finding diverse rocky soils in cool coastal climate zones. They have six different parcels in the Santa Cruz Mountains and also a parcel in the 16 mile long Anderson Valley which spills into Mendocino.

The wine producing reputation of this remote valley has been steadily increasing for years. Rhys chose a site for their Bearwallow vineyard in the coolest northwestern corner or “Deep End” of the valley where 31 acres were planted on rocky slopes.

From harvest to bottlings, a gentle gravity system is used instead of pumping, fining, or filtering. This gentle approach is intended to deliver the purest possible reflection of the vineyard’s unique character. The bouquet is pure, youthful, & precise offering up scents and notes of cherries, pomegranate, woodsmoke, soil tones, espresso, & a touch of cedar from new French oak barrels.

On the  palate the wine is full bodied, focused & tangy with a long and complex finish -- California cool climate Pinot Noir at it’s finest!
