100% Loureiro from Vinho Verde, Portugal.
In the Valle de Lima, home to Vino Verde (young wines), their iconic grape is Loureiro. The Loureiro grape takes its name from the “laurel” because of its distinctive aroma similar to laurel berries. The Loureiro, along with Albariño and other grapes coupled with a blast of CO2, comprises the very popular Vino Verde white wines.
This Lindeza is stand alone Loureiro- no CO2 or other grapes blended in. Winemaker Jose Oliveira has worked this region for over 30 years and has perfected this impressive and aromatic indigenous grape.
Loureiro is a wildly prolific so good canopy management is needed to keep it in check in order to control the yields so it can achieve its full potential. The grapes come from vines around 25 years old and pops with orange and acacia blossom flavors and bright acidity. Like Muscadet, the cooling influence of the Atlantic plays a big part in its growth development and cuisine pairing- another outstanding wine to pair with all things ocean!
