100% Zinfandel (Primitivo) from Puglia, Italy.
Masseria Cuturi has dedicated their Primitivo to Don Tommaso Schiavoni, a nobleman who was the first to plant Primitivo cuttings in Manduria in 1881 right in the Conca d’ Orso of Masseria Cuturi.
Today, the Rossi-Chauvenet family has launched an ambitious restoration project of this ancient Masseria, starting with the vineyards and developing a luxurious agri-tourist resort and winery. Primitivo in this charming corner of Italy was totally unknown when it arrived back in 1881 and today the grape has become the viticultural symbol of the region!
300 hectares of vineyards are dedicated primarily to Primitivo. The harvest happens in September and maceration on the skins is around 15 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. After bottling, the wine ages for six months.
The nose is elegant & delicate with floral notes and fresh red fruit aromas. Clean, well-balanced, and rustic, there’s a hint of saltiness and licorice commingling with all of those red and dark berry notes.
