Mallorca’s rebirth & resistance to losing its cultural & gastronomical relevance lie with a new generation of winemakers, farmers, & chefs who are diligently recording & reviving the local culinary culture that predates the boom of modern tourism sweeping over the island.

Enter Tomeu Llabres who founded his micro winery in a former auto garage in the ancient city of Binissalem in 2017. Coming from six generations of growers, Tomeu has worked with legendary winemaker Alvaro Palacios in the Priorat.

Tomeu, like many other growers & winemakers, are subscribing back to the agri polyculture movement growing apricots, almond & olive trees to coexist with the vines. His focus is on the indigenous Mantonegro grape & he’s demonstrated that this ancient varietal has incredible potential.

The Negre is a blend of 51% Mantonegro, 24% Merlot, 20% Syrah, 4% Monastrell, & 1% Callet. The grapes come from vineyards aged between 35-75 years. 35% of the juice is aged for five months in old French oak & 65% is aged for five months in stainless steel.

The resulting wine is a “Mediterranean thrill ride!” -- totally crushable & food friendly. This fresh & energetic blend of indigenous & international grapes is loaded with citrus mingling with red berry flavors, local herbs, & exotic spice notes!
