100% Sparkling Ploussard Rosé from Arbois-Pupillin (Jura), France.
Domaine Overnoy-Crinquand is located in the village of Pupillin in the Arbois appellation. Crinquand uses fruit from younger vines of a grape called Ploussard. Although the vintage is not indicated on the label their Cremant is vintage specific with all the juice coming from a single harvest on a small five and a half hectare parcel.
The wine goes through 36 months on the lees and is brut zero -- no added sugar in dosage. 90% of their wine is sold to private clients so we’re really fortunate to have small quantities drop in Vermont! The wine is crisp and creamy with persistent bubbles and aromas of tangy strawberries and cherries. There’s an evocative underlying earthiness under the big raspberry fruit on the palate.
Ploussard (or Poulsard) is a rare indigenous red grape native to Jura. Known for its extremely thin skins, the wine is always light in color but delivers earthy and savory notes and flavors.
