"Charvin is old-school Châteauneuf in the sense that where many producers release multiple wines, lieux-dit wines, varietal wines, etc., Charvin releases one wine and it’s always the best wine they can produce in the vintage. And 2000 was a truly great vintage, as Laurent Charvin (6th generation winemaker) really came into his own. They had only bottled an estate wine since 1990. Growing on rocks and sand, mostly old-vine (50+ year old) Grenache, this wine is elegant, structured, and will be drinking beautifully with some of the fruit developing and turning from the fresh strawberries and sage to more dried fruit, cranberries, and oregano. This will be an exciting bottle to experience." - Master Sommelier David Keck
